Looking back isn’t always a bad thing. The lovely spring weather we’re having just now is causing me to well up with anticipation at the gardening months ahead, but I’ve also been remembering happy summers gone past. Our family has lived in a few different houses over the years, and these photos were taken in my favourite garden.
Robin mum and dad nested and raised chicks in the greenhouse. They built their nest in one of the pots.
I’m not a tidy gardener!
The greenhouse was custom built by hubby. He used our daughter’s garden playhouse (after she’d outgrown it) and added lots of bits on with old windows donated by neighbours (pinched from skips). That greenhouse was a work of love and bucket loads of sweat, but the pleasure I got from it was incomparable. Mice, robins, frogs, spiders, and goodness knows what else made their homes in it. It was a haven for bugs and beasties, and a paradise for me.
Saved the best for last!
Introducing Esmeralda. Beautiful, isn’t she. She built her web just inside the entrance to the greenhouse and laid an egg sac in it, which she permanently guarded until her babies (spiderlings) emerged.
